The Fort Myers Beach Art Association Different Strokes is an Experimentalist group, led by Michele Buelow (pictured here). The art is created based on prompts Michele reads to the group.

Buelow said, “Always stretching the limits, our group used the Joan Fullerton “Bossy Pants” prompts to create our basic painting. Some have been further enhanced and some are just as they developed. What fun!”

The Fort Myers Beach Art Association invites the public to support the local arts and local graduating student artists by viewing this year’s Student Scholarship Award winning works and entries. The gallery will display submitted artworks from potential scholarship recipients from April 2-6 at the FMBAA gallery located at 3030 Shell Mound Blvd on Fort Myers Beach. Admission is free to the public from Monday through Saturday from 10am-3pm.

The annual Student Scholarship Show showcases the work of the talented high school students of our area. To encourage development of the arts in our community, three scholarships are awarded to seniors going on to study art at the college or university level. The annual Student Scholarship Show and awards are supported financially through grants by the yearlong fund-raising activities of the members of the Fort Myers Beach Art Association and Gallery.

The judging team for this year’s recipients for the scholarship awards and other awards consists of Rene Chastant and Carolyn Bachman. This exhibit will contain works from college bound seniors from Cypress Lake Center for the Arts and Cypress Lake High School students.
