The long and complicated Estero Boulevard road improvement project is finally coming to an end after 7 years of work. On Wednesday, Lee County and the Town of Fort Myers Beach will host an official ribbon cutting for the project at Charley’s Boat House at 9AM.
The Estero Boulevard road construction project began back in 2015. Lee County has poured $80 million into Estero Boulevard to improve drainage, repair water mains, add bike lanes and repave the road from the Matanzas pass Bridge to the Big Carlos Pass Bridge.
Charley’s Boat House Grill is located at 6241 Estero Boulevard
Kudos to ChrisTel Construction, Mitchell & Starke, Lee County and the Town of Fort Myers Beach for a job well done and for such a beautiful new road with wide sidewalks, bike lanes and center turn lane. The project was initially projected to last 10 years plus was finished in nearly half that time. I can’t say enough about how they kept two lanes of traffic flowing, kept the work area organized and neat and the construction flaggers were always very friendly and helpful.
What a great improvement. Well worth the wait. The Boulevard looks fantastic!
A lot of credit for getting this project completed should go to belated County Commissioner Larry Kiker.
Without his support and backing, this project would not have been completed-or even started!
Yes! Well said!
No way the project is finished by March 30. When its finished have a ribbon cutting. The south end still has plenty to be done.
