Community leaders Janeen Paulauskis and Jan Flemming were honored with the 2021 Citizen of Distinction award by the town council last week. When COVID hit and local businesses had to close Janeen and Jan launched the #WeAreFMB campaign to help local workers.
Tens of thousands of dollars were raised from the sale of #WeAreFMB T-shirts and other merchandise. All the money raised was used to purchase Publix gift cards, which were then distributed to beach hospitality workers who found themselves out of work due to the government mandated shutdowns.
The #WeAreFMB campaign continues today, administered by The Community Foundation.
