Lovers Key Announces New Camp Dates, Discounts

Friends of Lovers Key has released a new list of dates and discounted fees for the Eco-Arts Camp at Lovers Key State Park. Discounts have been applied to each session, thanks to a generous donation to the program.

Also, to accommodate the late end to the school year, Lover Key will offer the first session after summer recess begins on June 21.

Here is the updated schedule:
June 21 ā€“ June 25 and June 28 ā€“ July 2: ā€œBeach Exploration and Discoveryā€, Ages 6-12, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, $200 for one session, $300 for both weeks. Children will explore Estero Bay and the Gulf of Mexico from top to bottom using microscopes, seine nets, plankton trawls and fishing poles. Learn about the shores and aquatic life of beautiful Lovers Key State Park through hands on experiments and creative expression with Susie Hassett, M.A., Science Education, Resource Teacher, Environmental Education, Lee County Public Schools.

June 28 ā€“ July 1: Painting in Nature ā€“ Ages 7-13, 2-4 pm. $100, one session. Children will enjoy painting and drawing while learning about the coastal plants, animals and habitats of our beautiful park. Participants will create eco-art through a variety of media with the 2021 -2022 Lovers Key Artist-in-Residence, Jenny Licht.

July 5 ā€“July 9 and July 12 ā€“ July 16, ā€œMarine Scienceā€, Ages 13-17, 8:30 am ā€“ 4:30 pm, $200, one session. Teens will experience what itā€™s like to be marine biologist. Participants will learn about aquatic and shore life through scientific research featuring oceanography, conservation, and estuarine ecology with Gary Rullo, International Baccalaureate Biology Teacher, Dunbar High School.

July 19-July 23 and July 26 – July 30: ā€œEco-Artsā€, Ages 7-8, 8:30 am ā€“ 1:00 pm, $145, one session. Children will enjoy learning about coastal ecology through a variety of creative activities and field trips in the park. Painting, drawing, crafts and story-telling will develop participantsā€™ appreciation for nature and artistic expression. Taught by Deborah Kay Dunlap, M.S. Elementary Education and Early Childhood Development Facilitator.

Registration must be received five days prior to the start of each session.
