The Florida Highway Patrol’s Elite DUI Squad and the Aggressive Driving Unit will be conducting “Operation Dry Streets”, a specialized impaired driving enforcement initiative, from Friday, May 22, 2026, through Sunday, May 24, 2026, throughout SW Florida.
While weather forecasts are predicting rain during the Memorial Day weekend, the Florida Highway Patrol will be working proactively to keep our roadways “dry” by identifying and removing impaired drivers before they cause a tragedy.
The goal of “Operation Dry Streets” is simple: prevent crashes, save lives, and ensure everyone reaches their destination safely.
The Florida Highway Patrol reminds motorists:
- Never drive impaired
- Designate a sober driver
- Use rideshare services or public transportation
- Heads up, phones down
- Patience, patience, patience
- Buckle up every trip, every time
Impaired driving remains one of the leading causes of serious and fatal crashes. Through high-visibility enforcement and public awareness, troopers aim to deter dangerous behavior and protect all who travel Florida’s roadways during the busy holiday weekend.
