While the steps to the fishing pier under the Matanzas Pass Bridge are already gone, there's still a chance the pier can be saved. The state was in the process of removing the fishing pier after the town decided it would not take over the maintenance of the pier. However, that may change.

Fort Myers Beach Town Manager Roger Hernstadt will be working with Flock Safety to install 6 security cameras, including 2 at Matanzas Pass Bridge and two at Big Carlos Pass Bridge. Flock is one of two companies the town is working with to install new security cameras.

Developer TPI has officially turned over a piece of property it owned at the foot of the Matanzas Pass bridge to the town. The developer behind the new Margaritaville Resort donated the property to the town. The company purchased the parcel for $2 million back in 2015.
Crosswalk Craziness
Last week the Florida Department of Transportation made a presentation to the Fort Myers Beach Town Council about their new foot of the bridge design project. The state is going with a design that drops several new crosswalks right at the foot of the Matanzas Pass Bridge.
Town Close to Mooring Field Expansion
On Monday the Town Council will consider a resolution taking the next steps to expand its mooring field by 19 balls. The Town of Fort Myers Beach currently operates a 70-slip mooring field east of Matanzas Pass Bridge.
300 Trucks of Sand Are On The Way
(By Ed Ryan) A parade of trucks will begin marching over the Matanzas Pass bridge starting Monday to replace 6000 tons of beach sand that washed away along 600 linear feet in Lynn Hall Park on Fort Myers Beach during Tropical Storm ETA.
