As of now, the plan is to remove the clock once Times Square is renovated. The Town Manager claims the clock is too difficult to find parts for. Many local residents want the clock to be saved.

Times Square will be getting an impressive facelift, the Margaritaville Hotel will transform a blighted area into beauty, and reconstructed traffic patterns will move people along, at the foot of the bridge, much faster than they move today.

The group hoping to find a home for what's left of the historic arches that were once the gateway to Fort Myers Beach heard more disappointing news last week. From 1924-1979 the arches welcomed both residents home and visitors to their favorite vacation location.

Since 2016 a group called Restore The Fort Myers Beach Arches has been trying to find a location to reconstruct what's left of the structure, that from 1924 to 1979, greeted people as they came over the old bridge to the beach. On October 16 the town council will hear four suggested locations from the group.

For the residents of the Fort Myers Beach mooring field things are in a state of disarray. Not too long ago it appeared they were on a path to getting a new castle, at Bayside Park, with new bathrooms, showers and a place to wash their clothes.

The Fort Myers Beach Mayor and Town Manager have often said at town council meetings that Fort Myers Beach brings in millions of dollars for Lee County and isn't getting what it deserves back from the county. When you see the facts of what Lee County actually does for Fort Myers Beach, you'll realize that narrative isn't reality.
