Poker Walk Raises Over $1,800

The Poker Walk to raise money to help fund the reconstruction of the Arches in Bowditch Park raised $1,837.80 last weekend. Steven Ray McDonald from Restore The Arches said, I would like to thank the wonderful venues and people that continue to support our effort."

Town Staff to Manage Mooring Field Services

While the restrooms facilities, the dock, trash, water and laundry for mooring field residents will continue to be provided by Matanzas, the Fort Myers Beach town staff will take over management of those services from Matanzas next month.

Setback For Arches

Steven Ray McDonald from the Restore The Arches organization announced this week that the group did not win a $3,000 Florida State Grant that would have helped fund engineering for the project. The group received 78.8 of 80 points needed for the grant.

The folks at the Restore Fort Myers Beach Arches group tells us that they are 38% of the way to the total they need to fund the approximate cost for construction. $15,000 is in the bank as of today.

Here's a picture of how the final reconstructed arch will look when the county constructs the structure in Bowditch Park. The county was also considering Lynn Hall Park, however, the Bowditch location was made official April 26th.

On Monday the Fort Myers Beach Town Council approved a motion that shows support for two possible locations for a portion of the old arches to be reconstructed. The two locations being considered are both on Lee County property on Fort Myers Beach.
