The City of Sanibel is mourning the loss of Streets Superintendent Lance Luna. Luna was hired by the City back in 1988 and was an important member of the City’s emergency planning, preparedness and response teams.
Luna’s supervisor, Sanibel Director of Community Services Keith Williams said Lance spent over half of his life serving the City of Sanibel and its residents. “Through his entire time with the City, he was always 100% invested in his job. Lance was an extremely skilled operator, and he played a large role in Sanibel’s recovery efforts following both Hurricane Charley and Hurricane Irma.”
Sanibel City Manager Judie Zimomra said, “Streets Superintendent Lance Luna earned his salary every day. At the time of his passing, he was one of the longest tenured employees in the history of the City of Sanibel. Much of the beautiful ambiance of Sanibel we all enjoy every day is the legacy of Superintendent Luna’s life’s work.”
