The Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum & Aquarium have released their schedule for its new Beat the Heat Beach Walks this Summer and Fall, led by the Museum’s expert educators at Gulfside City Park on Sanibel Island.
Participants will explore the Sanibel shore, learn about various local shells and mollusks, and see the sunrise while avoiding the afternoon heat and humidity of the wet season.
Beat the Heat Beach Walks begin at 7am and will last about an hour. The early morning walks will be offered on June 9 and 25; July 7 and 23; August 4 and 20; September 8 and 24; October 6 and 22.
Cost is $15 for adults, $5 for youth and Museum Members. “These walks are a great opportunity for people to get outside, look for shells, and learn something about our
local beach ecosystems,” said Jorden Falker, Director of Education. “We invite everyone to join us and beat the heat!”
