St. Peter Inches Closer to Reopening Building

St. Peter Lutheran is getting closer to being able to have church inside the building rather than under a tent, after sustaining extensive damage from Hurricane Ian in September 2022. Until then there is plenty going on at the church…

The church will begin the Lenten season on Ash Wednesday, March 5, 2025 with drive-thru imposition of ashes from 3PM to 7PM. Enter the property at the second driveway on St. Peter’s Drive and you’ll find Pastor Tom Frey there with the ashes. You’ll remain in your vehicle and continue out the first driveway back onto St. Peter’s Drive.

Come worship under the tent every Sunday (weather permitting) at 9:00 am. St. Peter’s continues to host worshippers from Chapel By The Sea, Beach United Methodist and many other locals. They’ve had over 100 people attend over the last few weeks as more and more folks are able to return to their winter homes. Service is very casual and “user friendly” with liturgy more suited to all who attend. They are still asking everyone to bring folding chairs if they can because they fill every spare chair that Beach Talk Radio raised money to purchase. That’s an excellent problem to have.

Also on Thursday, April 17, 2025 there will be a Tenebrae service at 9:00 am. On Good Friday, April 18, 2025, there will be a service at 6:00 pm.

Easter Sunday service will be at 9:00 am.

  1. This is nice!!! We just wish that someone would make the catholic church clean up the trash, still from the hurricanes. They are no longer holding their masses, however, why are they so special that they don’t have to pick up all the trash that litters along the (ugly) black fence, and along the banks of the pond, behind them? This is very unsightly for passersby and residents; not to mention a potential hazard during future storms! Where’s the “judge,” on THIS??!
