A Special Message From Your Chief

(By Fire Chief Matt Love) Hello to our fantastic community! Rather than a safety message, this week I would like to deliver a message of sincere thanks. In early September, I had a significant fall accident which resulted in losing mobility and put me in a wheelchair for a while.

I was incredibly fortunate that this accident was not worse. With my wife continuing to teach fourth grade, and my two little guys in school themselves, we were a little worried about how we would keep up with everything. However, the Beach community had other plans.

Since this occurred, members of our island community have been overwhelmingly supportive of
our family. The teachers and staff at the Beach School, the Beach Parent Teacher Organization,
the Board of Fire Commissioners, and of course our fire department staff have been amazing.
Our family has been blessed by this community with meals, messages of support, visits, and
caring acts we could not even believe.

Saying thank you seems so little in light of all the incredible support we have received. It is
important to our family that the Beach community knows how much we care for and love the
individuals who have made this place home, and taken care of us so well.

As your Fire Chief, I could not feel more blessed and rewarded by a community who cares so
much for its members. Please know how much your fire department and I appreciate you and are
proud to serve you each day; it is truly our honor.

With sincere gratitude for an amazing community,

Matt Love and Family
