If not for COVID-19 last weekend would have been the 2nd annual Roar Offshore Boat Races on Fort Myers Beach. In its place race organizers held a Fun Run out of Cape Coral. 35 boats participated and $6,000 was raised for the Fort Myers Beach Lions Club.
Organizer Tim Hill said the event couldn’t have gone any better. “The Friday night VIP party was supposed be outside, but it rained so we just moved it indoors and carried on. The next day, the weather was great with just a few clouds and a two-foot chop on the run to the Village Brewhouse in Punta Gorda for lunch where everybody raved about the food.”
Organizers are hoping to have the big event back on Fort Myers Beach in 2021.

Thank you Cyndee & Tim for organizing this event and for the contribution to our Lions Club! We are overwhelmed with gratitude!!! The money is really going to help tide us over until this year’s shrimp festival. Thank you so, so much!
This was apparently the boat race the woman at Pete’s who had 5 drinks by 9:00 am, was talking about.
