The Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting celebration this afternoon when the owners of The Whale cut the ribbon more than 3 years after Hurricane Ian wiped out their building. The event begins at 3PM.

The ribbon cutting event runs from 3PM to 7PM. The restaurant will host a private event Saturday night and close again until Friday, November 14th when they will open to the public.

The Miller’s purchased the popular beach hangout months before the storm and have been working on rebuilding for several years. They also purchased the Tuckaway Cafe property about 1 mile south on Estero Boulevard and will reopen that building as Sandy Bottom, which includes a large outdoor tiki bar. And, they added the old Firehouse building near the Red Cocount proprty and plan to open that as a take out restaurant called Station 31.

The Whale is located at 1249 Estero Blvd just past Margaritaville.
