Town Government Looking For Committee Members

The town of Fort Myers Beach is looking for volunteers to serve on four town committee’s. The committee’s are advisory boards to the town council.

There is now one position available on the Bay Oaks Recreational Campus Advisory Board, which advises the council about the Bay Oaks community center, recreation facility, and campus.

There is one position open on the Historic Preservation Advisory Committee, which assists the LPA and the Historic Preservation Advisory Board with historic preservation matters.

The LPA also has one spot new open following the departure of former Chair Megan Heil.

And there are two spots still open on the Public Safety Committee, which looks at transportation and safety issues.

  1. Why would any good citizen waste time. We’ve seen over the past year many of these folks put in long hours trying to aid the town in making decisions based on feedback and research. Then to be totally ignored by the mayor and some council on their recommendations. These people volunteer and should be used as the voice of the people. Yet they are ignored and basically told their efforts and opinion mean nothing. Remember vote and change this.
