Why I Love Fort Myers Beach

(By Christy Hennessey) The nature, the beauty, and charter of an authentic beach town really appealed to us. Back in those days, we would stay at “Bay to Beach” on the north end for our vacations. We eventually became original owners at White Cap Beach Condos which were built across from Newton Park. We enjoyed coming to Basque in the sun and enjoy the fun for a few weeks at a time throughout the year.

It was attending the Newton Beach guided tours that led to me becoming more engaged with the area and after so many seasonal vacations we craved more of a sense of home. We wanted a place with a dock, neighbors and a great sense of community.

In 2016 that desire became a reality when we built our house on San Carlos Bay. We love the wildlife that’s so abundant, the bright beautiful sunsets we can take in from the deck every evening and the surrounding peaceful neighborhood. It’s also within a short walk to all the amazing restaurants and liveliness of Times Square. As a house guest once commented to me after a beach walk on their first visit, “Everyone seems so happy”.

With the passion of a community coming together to see Margaritaville designed and approved, I’ve met amazing people. The sense of community is truly like none other (and I’m from the Midwest!).

Discovering the depth of FMB is like peeling off the layers of an onion. There’s so much more than meets the eye.
