This week, and for a third time, the Fort Myers Beach Town Council and the Local Planning Agency made it crystal clear there will not be any changes to the town's Comprehensive Plan. It will remain the main working document for all future development on the island. So, what exactly does that mean?

(By Vice Mayor Jim Atterholt) Insurance issues continue to plague Fort Myers Beach and we must remain vigilant. I see this first-hand as my wife and I have had to move five times since the storm because our condo building is still uninhabitable--primarily because of delayed insurance payments.

The 2023 Fort Myers Beach Halloween Fright Night is tonight from 4:30PM to 6:30PM at Bay Oaks. Beach Talk Radio will be there sharing video on Facebook and judging the kids costume contest.

Fall registration for the Fort Myers Beach Little League is now open. Fall Ball starts Saturday, October 14th. The league is for kids 8 and older and is free. Practices will be held on the new little league field at Bay Oaks. To register GO HERE.

Along with Mayor Dan Allers, Fort Myers Beach Operations Manager Frankie Kropacek joined us on Mondays With The Mayor last night. We covered everything from the lights on Estero Boulevard to the repairs on Bahia Via to the upcoming permitting changes. WATCH

Florida State Representative Adam Botana plans to author a local Bill that would merge the Fort Myers Beach Fire District with Bonita Springs. The goal of the merger, he says, would be to save taxpayer money by consolidating redundant positions. Botana says this will not affect coverage on the beach in any way.

Wahoo Willies, Snug Harbor and the Town of Fort Myers Beach are hosting Chasing Denver at Bayside Park Sunday from 5pm to 7pm. The concert with the popular duo is free to the public. Chris Kemp from Chasing Denver will be Beach Talk Radio Saturday.

St. Raphael's Church, in partnership with Providence Family Life Center, is hosting an event called Voices of The Storm - Stories of Survival Saturday, October 28th from 9AM to Noon at Diamondhead.

On Thursday the Fort Myers Beach Town Council directed staff to make changes to the town's Comprehensive Plan to allow residential homeowners, who own legal non-conforming lots, to build back the exact same living space square footage as they had before the storm.

Fort Myers Beach resident Monica Schmucker hosted a kick-off fundraising campaign Thursday night. Schmucker is running for the county-wide seat now occupied by Kathleen Morgan. Over 100 people attended the event held at the Island Storage Suites.
