SanCap Bank Donates $50K To Chamber

Sanibel Captiva Community Bank has donated $50,000 to the Fort Myers Beach Chamber. The Chamber office on Estero Boulevard was totally destroyed in the storm and all Chamber supplies and office furniture was also lost.  

It’s All About That 8-Story Condo

Underneath the ruins of Beach Baptist Church, neighborhood residents and elected officials attended an informational meeting about a proposed redevelopment plan for the Beach Baptist property. Most of the chatter had to do with a plan to plop an 8-story 40-unit condo building right on the edge of Estero Boulevard.

Big Carlos Ceremony is Today

An official groundbreaking ceremony for the $91 million Big Carlos Pass Bridge replacement will be held this morning at 10 a.m. and Beach Talk Radio will be there to cover the event live. The bridge connects the south end of Fort Myers Beach to Lover’s Key on Estero Boulevard. The project starts this Summer.

La Ola Gears Up For Bell Tower Opening

Wednesday night La Ola restaurant owner Thomas Houghton welcomed about 100 of his friends to his new location in Bell Tower at the corner of Daniels Boulevard and 41. It was a private gathering of mostly Fort Myers Beach people sampling the menu and chit-chatting about their piece of paradise.

Your Amber Lights Are Being Installed

According to FPL Southwest Florida Area Manager Charlotte Miller, the installation of 131 turtle-friendly amber lights on Estero Boulevard began Wednesday and should be completed by the end of next week.

Compass Rose Marina, a luxury marina located on Main Street on San Carlos Island, is set to break ground on a brand new facility Thursday, June 1st. The new dry rack storage facility will be built to withstand 200 MPH winds.
