If you've driven, biked or walked down Estero Boulevard you've certainly noticed massive piles of debris accumulating on the sidewalks. Lee County owns Estero Boulevard and they are no longer picking up that debris. And nobody knows why.

That's what Interim Town Manager Keith Wilkins told the Town Council Monday. The permit has been issued to knock the building down and all the town is waiting for is the final approval from FEMA.

Those are the words of incoming Fort Myers Beach Town Manager Andrew Hyatt. Hyatt's $197,000 contract was approved by the Fort Myers Town Council Monday. His first day on the job will be May 1st.

Shocking was the word Vice Mayor Jim Atterholt used when he saw how the inside of the old Town Hall building looked during a tour this week. The building has been untouched since Hurricane Ian, as the town, like so many residents, battles with insurance companies.
