Town Replacing Street Signs
On Monday the Fort Myers beach Town Council voted to approve a $391,808 contract to replace street signs on the island. Nearly every street sign was dislodged, destroyed or washed away. In the weeks following the storm, residents created their own signs which have become the talk of the town.
The Work Has Begun To Reopen The 7-11’s
All four 7-11 locations on Fort Myers Beach were destroyed when Hurricane Ian smashed and battered the island. Two of the four locations sold gas which means residents have to drive between 3 and 10 miles, depending on where they live to get gas at Walmart.
Fishing Tourney To Benefit the Beach
The first annual Red Grouper Bash is set for Saturday, April 7th and Sunday April 8th at Moss Marine on Fort Myers Beach, Florida. The tournament is being hosted by Off Duty Lifestyle and includes a kids fishing tournament.

No Library For at Least 6 More Months
The spectacular Fort Myers Beach Library has been closed since Ian came through nearly six months ago. The first floor sustained the most damage and was remediated pretty quickly after the storm.

‘Ding’ Visitor Center Set to Reopen
The ‘Ding’ Darling Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel has announced that the Wildlife Drive Visitor Center will reopen on April 4th. The 'Ding" Darling facilities and habitat were ravaged by Hurricane Ian.

Lee County Gets $1.1 Billion From Feds For Ian
The money is being sent to Lee County from the department of Housing and Urban Development. According to Lee County Communications Director Betsy Clayton, Fort Myers Beach will be eligible to apply for some of this funding.
Meet Your Next Town Manager
On Monday April 3rd residents will get a chance to mingle with five candidates before the Town Council decides who might lead Fort Myers Beach through its rebuild. Chris Holly and Keith Wilkins are on a 6-month consulting contract that began shortly after the election when former Town Manager Roger Hernstadt resigned.
