Nearly every structure on Fort Myers Beach, both residential and commercial, suffered some sort of damage from Hurricane Ian. Some of it was wind damage, some of it was water damage, some of it was both. A lot of it was devastating.

Big Carlos Pass Bridge Rebuild to Start This Spring

The Lee Country Board of Commissioners have approved the construction contract for a new Big Carlos Pass Bridge. The bridge connects the south end of Fort Myers Beach to Lover’s Key on Estero Boulevard and will cost $90.8 million to replace.

The Ocean Harbor Condo Tour

We got the tour of the 12-acre Ocean Harbor condos on Saturday morning. The property sustained a lot of damage, from losing all of their docks to a water logged clubhouse that needs to be rebuilt. Why is Lovers Key State Park Not Open?

(By Christy Hennessey) Almost all of the public Park structures except the “New” Welcome and Discovery Center, were destroyed by the hurricane, so we will be reopening with portable restrooms or a restroom trailer.  The Ranger Station will have a temporary structure until it can be rebuilt.

Today at 1PM the Lee County School Board will review three options regarding the future of the Beach School. The public is invited to attend to speak before the board reviews the options. A final vote on what will happen to the school will take place next month.
