On Tuesday Americans will celebrate National Voter Registration Day with a massive cross-country effort to register voters ahead of the midterm elections. The Lee County Elections Office is partnering with Lee County libraries to register local voters.

A foreclosure lawsuit has been filed against the owners of the Key Estero Shops on Estero Boulevard. For years, the town of Fort Myers Beach has been accusing the owner of that location, Carmen Naccarato, of operating an illegal parking lot.

Rood Files Appeal Following Town’s ADA Win
Last month we reported that the town of Fort Myers Beach won the ADA lawsuit Estero Boulevard property owner Eddie Rood filed regarding the dune walkover he wants to build behind his home. Rood had 30 days to appeal that decision. Thursday he filed the appeal.

Fire District Millage Will Not Increase
Despite rising prices for equipment and fuel, skyrocketing inflation, and a personnel heavy operation, Fire Chief Ron Martin recommended, and the Fire District Board agreed unanimously, to keep the millage rate at 2.9851 per $1,000 of assessed property valuation.

Library Board Votes to Reduce Proposed Increase
Fort Myers Beach Library Director Cletus Poser had proposed a 2022-2023 budget of $1.6 million with a millage rate of .2981 per $1,000 of assessed property value. That would have been an increase from the current millage rate of .2799.
