Town Staff to Manage Mooring Field Services

While the restrooms facilities, the dock, trash, water and laundry for mooring field residents will continue to be provided by Matanzas, the Fort Myers Beach town staff will take over management of those services from Matanzas next month.

The Lee Board of County Commissioners has scheduled public meetings for the community to provide input on the redistricting process. They've also launched a website landing page to provide data, maps, information and transparency throughout the process.

Is Chief Love Taking a Job in Minnesota?

Speculation is that Fort Myers Beach Fire Chief Matt Love may be taking the job as Fire Chief in St. Could Minnesota. The St. Cloud Fire Department is now being run, on an interim basis, by a former St. Cloud Fire Chief Bill Mund.

Lee County COVID Cases Declining

Over the past week cases of COVID have dropped significantly at Lee Health System facilities. On August 26th, 657 cases were reported. That number dropped under 600, to 596 yesterday. Thursday was only the second time in a month more patients were discharged than admitted.

Margaritaville Drone Footage Released

DeAngelis Diamond Construction put together a cool video shot from a drone that shows the early land clearing and demolition phase of the Margaritaville resort project which is now three weeks in. Watch it HERE. The resort is expected to open in 23 months and 1 week.

DeSantis Appeals School Mask Mandate Ruling

True to his word, Governor Ron DeSantis has filed an appeal to Leon County Circuit Judge John Cooper's ruling that he overstepped his authority when he ordered schools not to impose mask mandates. Lee County implemented a mask mandate after Cooper's ruling.
