Chambers Pause Luncheons, Bring in Vaccine
Due to the spike in COVID-19 cases the Sanibel/Captiva Chamber has placed a pause on in-person monthly luncheon meetings. It has also scheduled a visit from the Golisano Children’s Hospital Mobile Pediatric Vaccination Clinic.
‘Ding’ Day Photo Contest Deadline Approaching
The submission deadline for the 29th annual “Ding” Darling Day Amateur Nature Photography Contest is Sept. 15th. Entries must be submitted electronically. First place in 2020 (pictured here) went to Ellen Trevor of Sanibel for her egret portrait titled “Carry Out Lunch.”

Lee Health Hosting Town Hall

Important LOSOM Meeting on Wednesday
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is hosting a ZOOM call with its LOSOM Project Delivery Team Wednesday from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The purpose of the meeting is to kick off Iteration 3 operational guidance development and how the public can stay involved in the process.
Fishing Tournament Raises $17K
Tunaskin's Grouper Grapple 2021 raised over $17,000 through silent and live auctions at its awards banquet. Proceeds from the auctions go directly to Reunite The Fight and The Jeff Sommer Memorial Scholarship. Here are the winners and pictures from the event.
Cases, Deaths Climbing. New Testing Site Opens
On Monday, Lee Health reported a record 629 COVID-19 patients in its hospitals, 8 of them under 18. Since Friday, there were 226 new COVID-19 admissions, 175 discharges and 22 deaths. Lee Health also opened a new testing site.

Florida Representative Byron Donalds is demanding the resignation of President Joe Biden. He said the President has abdicated his responsibility and duties entrusted to him as President of the United States. "This blatant abdication of his office is grounds for President Biden to resign immediately."
