Annisa Karim of Randall Research Center in Bokeelia is the guest speaker at today's Fort Myers Beach Kiwanis meeting. Karim will speak about the archeology, history and ecology of Florida. She'll explain the history of the Calusa and the shell mounds. The meeting is at 7:30 AM at Bonita Bills.

On February 10th, the Friends of Lovers Key will host a panel discussion featuring several experts on water quality. The discussion will focus on recent efforts to restore the health of the Estero Bay watershed and what can be done to support these efforts.

Big Turtles Take a Beating in 2021
In 2021, the Sanibel Captiva Conservation Commission documented 43 stranded turtles (40 found dead and 3 alive). The majority of the strandings (29) were loggerheads, followed by 8 Kemp's ridleys and 6 greens.
