Councilman Dan Allers said he wanted to address "the elephant in the room" last night at the town council meeting. That elephant was the mask mandate that's been in place on the beach for over 2 months now. Lee County COVID numbers have been steadily declining without a mask mandate.

Sand spurs are thriving in the bird nesting area on the southern tip of the island. Audubon is organizing a sand spurs clearing operation for the benefit of the property owners who support the bird nesting area and the birds themselves.

Here are the latest Fort Myers Beach turtle stats from our friends at Turtle Time. There are 19 remaining nests to hatch compared to 24 last week. Turtle season ends October 31 so always remember to fill in the holes in the sand while out enjoing the beach.
