Lee County Leads The State in Manatee Deaths
FWC has released preliminary 2019 manatee mortality numbers and of the 606 total deaths in the state that year, 144 of them were in Lee County. 27 of the 144 in Lee County were killed by watercraft, 2 in Fort Myers Beach.
Taste of the Islands Passports Now Available
Passports for the Taste of the Islands, to benefit the Clinic for Rehabiliation of Wildflife (C.R.O.W.), are now available on and off Sanibel island. They can also be purchased online for pickup at a designated “Will Call” location.
Do You Want to Serve on The New NAB Board?
The town's new Nuisance Abatement Board is being formed. The board will have 7 seats and applications are now being accepted. Members will be appointed for three years. Each of the five Town Councilors are to appoint a member. The remaining two members are to be appointed collectively for "at large" positions.

Sunset Celebration Returns Friday
The Times Square Merchants Association has announced the return of live music, on a limited basis, in the square. The weekend band performances have been missing since the COVID related rules discouraging gatherings went into effect. Friday night will see the return of popular local band High Tide from 6pm to 10pm.
Business Owners Say They Were Left Out of The Process
Several Times Square business owners voiced their frustration with the town council Monday because they say they were left out of the new Times Square design discussions. The town is inching closer toward a much-needed multi-million dollar facelift to the Times Square area.
Homeowners Respond to Town Statement

Bingo Proceeds Support CROW
A $500 donation has been given to C.R.O.W. by the Cape Royal Community. The money was raised during a bingo night and will go towards general funds to support CROW’s mission of saving wildlife through state-of-the-art veterinary care, research, education and conservation medicine.
Town ‘Sets Record Straight’ on Dune Walkover
Fort Myers Beach property owners Eddie Rood and Kurt Kroemer have been using local news outlets to get their side of the story out about a dune walkover behind their homes. The town has denied Rood and Kroemer a special exception they need for the walkover and on Monday the town responded to what Rood and Kroemer have been saying.
Beach Residents Are Behaving Badly
That's what Vice Mayor Rexann Hosafros says is her experience related to mask wearing. She gave an example of going to a restaurant to pick up food for a neighbor and the staff wasn't wearing masks about 50% of the time. She says she doesn't go back to those establishments. Mayor Ray Murphy agreed, even calling out the President.
