How Much Will A New Bay Oaks Cost?
The answer to that question is still very much up in the air. While the council has earmarked about $6 million for the Bay Oaks rebuild, estimates have come in as high as $20 million. It will all come down to exactly how big and fancy the council wants to get with a final design.

Council Rejects Dune Walkover Offer
By a vote of 3-2 the Fort Myers Beach town council voted to reject an offer made by Estero Boulevard homeowners Eddie Rood and Kurt Kroemer. The homeowners are seeking a special exception for a long walkway that would give them access to the beach behind their homes. They now plan to sue the town.
Council To Borrow $10 Million For Major Projects
On Monday the town council unanimously approved a resolution for the $10 million which will be used for the Bay Oaks rebuild, the Times Square redesign and Bayside Park.
Creation of Nuisance Abatement Board Moving Forward
It appears the Fort Myers Beach Town Council is moving forward with approving an ordinance that would create a Nuisance Abatement Board. The board is being created to help the community deal with public safety issues on the island. Councilman Jim Atterholt calls it "another tool in the toolbox."
