New 7-11 Approved by Town Council

On Monday, The Fort Myers Beach Town Council approved the proposed 7-11 building at 1301 Estero Boulevard (next to The Whale). Construction on the new convenience store should begin in the 4th quarter of this year and it will take 7 months to build.

And it ended in a dud after years of battling between Estero Boulevard homeowners Eddie Rood and Kurt Kroemer and a small group of people on Fort Myers Beach that tried to deny the two residents a walkover to the beach from their homes.

Let's Go FMB pier committee member Allen Shanosky laid into the Lee County Board of Commissioners last night over the Fort Myers Beach pier rebuild. He said the commissioners had no vision and Lee County has stopped taking his calls.

St. Peter’s Demo Pushed Back One Week

The lower building of St. Peter's Lutheran Church will be knocked down.The original plan was to start yesterday, however, it's been pushed back one week. The church was also notified their tent, where they hold weekly services, will need to come down during demo.

The application portal for the LeeCares Hurricane Ian Housing Recovery Program is now open. Lee County and its partners are ramping up outreach to increase awareness and assist residents impacted by Ian.

Town Agrees To Purchase 170,000 Tons of Sand

The sand will cost just over $2 million and be paid for with funds from a Florida Department of Emergency Management grant. The vendor providing the new sand is Stewart Mine Materials. The Town Council voted to purchase the sand on Monday.

When the Fort Myers Beach Town Council meets Monday at 9AM they will vote on who will fill the open seat left when Bill Veach resigned at the end of 2023. 5 residents are interested in the seat, a 6th candidate withdrew his name.

Billionaire Buys Holiday Court Property For $9.25 Million

The .76 acre piece of property is located at 925 Estero Boulevard across from Lynn Hall Park. The 2-story motel previously located on that property was destroyed in Hurricane Ian and was demolished. The lot is now empty.
