The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is holding a press briefing this morning at 11:30 to discuss Lake Okeechobee water management. The Corps is working on a new operating manual for the lake that will be followed for 10 years. We’ll be on the press call and will bring you a full report on our show Saturday morning.
The goal of the Corps. is to have a LOSAM draft “preferred alternative” for all stakeholders to consider on or before July 16th and a final “preferred alternative” by August 4th. The final plan will be implemented at the end of 2022.
Lee County officials are feeling much better about the options on the table after meeting with Colonel Kelly from the Army Corps earlier this month.
