So many of you responded to our Facebook question about whether the town should repaint the dinged up poles that hold the sails at Bayside Park. The majority of you said there were enough Ian reminders all over the beach. This week, the poles will be repainted.

On Thursday, The Charity Pros announced its “Hurricane Heroes” at a press conference at Hammond Stadium. The “Heroes” will be honored at the organization’s All-Star Concert Oct. 7 featuring “Matchbox Twenty.”

Back on August 9th you helped us raise $585 in 24 minutes for 69-year old Fort Myers Beach resident Dean Ruban who lost his house on Estero Boulevard. Tomorrow at 11:30, we'll give Ruban the check so he can pay for a demo permit the town requires him to have.

Did you know that if you get a parking ticket on Fort Myers Beach ten minutes or less after your meter expires, you can call a telephone number and have the ticket ripped up? Of course you didn't, it's a completely rhetorical question, and the town has never shared that with anyone. Until now.

The 4th and 5th grade students from the Fort Myers Beach Elementary School will sing the National Anthem during our special event September 28th. The ceremony is being held at Bayside Park at 9AM to remember those that were lost on September 28, 2022. Bring a lawn chair and arrive early.

At 9AM this morning well-known Fort Myers Beach resident Monica Schmucker will file the paperwork to become a candidate for the Lee County School Board. Schmucker intends to run for the county-wide seat now occupied by Kathleen Morgan.

Allen Shanosky has been a Fort Myers Beach resident since 1999. Four generations of his family have lived on the island and fished off the Fort Myers Beach pier. Allen has a special connection with the pier, which makes him a perfect person to sit on the Let's Go FMB pier committee.

According to Fort Myers Beach Mosquito Control District Chair Joanne Semmer the 2023-2024 millage rate will remain the same as the current year. Fort Myers Beach residents will continue be charged .1123 per $1,000 of assessed property value.

One of the first major development projects the LPA and Town Council may be voting on comes from Moss Marina owner Ben Freeland. After several months of radio silence Freeland announced Monday that he's submitted two applications to the town to get things rolling.

Ousted former Fort Myers Beach Town Manager Roger Hernstadt has sold his .16 acre lot on Avenida Carita for a smidge over $1 million. The deal for the empty lot was listed by former Fort Myers Beach Mayor Tracey Gore, according to online records.

The Charity Pros will introduce their “Hurricane Heroes” tomorrow in advance of the nonprofit’s Oct. 7 All-star Concert event at Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers. The event will be held at 9:30AM at the Hammond Stadium Press Room.
