With COVID-19 cases surging in the state of Florida, the Fort Myers Beach town council will begin social distancing again during its meetings at town hall. Council members will be at least six feet apart from one another beginning this Thursday when the group meets for its M&P session.

Fire Department Conducts Local Training

(By Fire Chief Matt Love) The Fort Myers Beach Fire Department completed two weeks of training using the various buildings found on the Margaritaville development site. The training focused on multi-unit, multi-jurisdictional fire scenarios using the Pierview Hotel and several other buildings.

New Ordinance Language Could Close Beach Businesses

New language added to an ordinance that now requires beach businesses to remove all of their equipment from the sand every night to protect the turtles has several business owners concerned they may have to close down.

The Races Are Back

Roar OffShore Boat Race organizers received approval for the 2021 event from the Fort Myers Beach town council Monday. The approval is contingent on receiving approval from other entities such as Lee County. The 2021 event will be held October 7th through the 9th.
