(By Greg Scasny) 2020 has been one hell of a year, and it isn’t over yet. The pandemic, riots, the election, murder hornets…well you get the point. All this chaos and confusion is just the type of thing that cyber-criminals thrive on to try and scam you and separate you from your hard earned dollar and personal information. You need to be diligent this holiday season.

As we reported last week, several Times Square business owners were upset with the town for not being included in the design of the Times Square rehabilitation project. This morning both sides are sitting down together to discuss the project and to try to get on the same page as this project quickly moves along.

Drive carefully around the downtown area. Starting today the crosswalks at the intersection of Wind's/Times Square/Mango Bay are scheduled for repainting. Of course the work is weather permitting.

Jim Knickle, who's running for Fort Myers Beach Fire Board, appeared on episode #136 of Beach Talk Radio. He was a fabulous guest and he's an excellent candidate. Knickle also had a very successful law enforcement career in Ohio before moving to the beach and serves on the Fort Myers Beach Public Safety Committee. Watch Jim on the show HERE.

Beach Baptist is hosting Trunk or Treat this Saturday at 6pm. In addition to the fun there will be free food and treats, trick-or-treating and games. Volunteers and donations are still needed. Call 239-463-6452 for more information. The church is located at 130 Connecticut street.

Fourth grade student Aubrey Wilson and sixth grade student Emma Dellenback have been selected as the winners of the Annual Veterans Day Youth Essay Contest sponsored by the City of Sanibel Recreation Department and the Lee Coast Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America.

The ABC 7 show More in the Morning will be highlighting Halloween week by showcasing the Fort Myers Beach Haunted Pub Crawl with Mike Yost the magical ghost host. Host Jesslyn Ferentz interviewed Mike at 5:45 at The Shamrock. He'll then move on to Pete's Time Out, Nervous Nellie's and Snug Harbor.
