The team at TPI has provided the community with an update on when construction may begin for its 254 room resort on Estero Boulevard. The goal is to have shovels in the ground sometime after the end of this year's season. Here are all the details.

Times Square Redevelopment Put on Hold

It was originally thought the redevelopment of Times Square might begin following the 2021 season. However, at the request of the Times Square business owners, that time frame is being pushed back one year.

The Fort Myers Beach Town Council has given Town Manager Roger Hernstadt direction to move forward with his scaled down design of the new Bay Oaks campus. The Bay Oaks Advisory Board was hoping for a larger facility, phased in over time.

Many Fort Myers Beach residents have complained about Adam Lacroix. He travels the beach pushing his religious beliefs on everyone walking by him using a bullhorn. Lacroix has been accused by the locals of calling people names because of how he perceives their lifestyle.

Restaurants Receive Outdoor Heater Warnings

Several Fort Myers Beach restaurants have been told they can no longer use outdoor propane heaters to keep their customers warm at night. One restaurant was told 25 heaters could no longer be used while another said every single heater they had was red flagged.

The lack of lighting on Estero Boulevard could be one of the most studied issues on Fort Myers Beach. Last week the town council decided to hire its 4th consultant on the issue. Estero Boulevard is one of the busiest roads in all of Lee County, especially during season, and one of the darkest once the sun goes down.
