On Thursday Town Councilwoman Karen Woodson told the Tourist Development Council that the fishing pier on Fort Myers Beach was the #1 tourist destination in all of Lee County. Woodson's pitch was for Lee County to build a much bigger replacement pier than it appears the county is planning to build now.

Water Upgrade on The Way

The Lee Board of County Commissioners voted Tuesday to approve a $14.5 million contract for the design, permitting and construction engineering to restore the Fort Myers Beach Water Reclamation Facility and enhance its capacity. The work begins in 2025.

On Monday, after three attempts, the Fort Myers Beach Town Council could not decide which of the five candidates who applied, should be appointed to the seat left vacant when Bill Veach quit the council at the end of 2023. The Council should now let the voters decide.

The Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife recently held their annual fundraiser, ‘WILD About CROW,’ and raised $1 million thanks to the generosity of the sold out crowd. Sanibel residents Bill and Laurie Harkey donated $750,000.
