A $60,000 study revealed the town of Fort Myers Beach must make over $2 million worth of property modifications, in seven different areas, to become compliant with the Americans With Disabilities Act. So far $50,000 has been set aside to make the changes.

According to the City of Sanibel, Turner Beach Park will be closed for construction from Tuesday, September 8 through Friday November 6. Lee County owns Turner Beach. The City of Sanibel has an Interlocal Agreement with Lee County to manage the park.

The Fort Myers Beach Fire Department, Office of the Fire Marshal, is the lead investigating authority for the marine fire, which occurred Saturday, August 29. According to Executive Assistant Fire Chief Ron Martin, the District’s Fire Marshal, determining the cause may take weeks.
