100% of the proceeds from the race will be donated to the Fort Myers Beach Woman's Club. The entire race will be run on the sandy beach starting in Times Square. You'll run past the Margaritaville Resort, turn around, run all the way to Bowditch Park, and finish back in Times Square just in time to enjoy the Farmers Market.

We're 8 days away from our 5K event on the beach to benefit the Fort Myers Beach Woman's Club. We're holding a t-shirt/bib pickup Friday, May 10th from 4-6 at La Ola at Bell Tower. If you cannot make it, it's easy to just pick up your shirt and bib on race day in Times Square.

Greg Scasny is the 4th Fort Myers Beach resident to announce a run for Fort Myers Beach Town Council. Scasny made the announcement outside Town Hall Monday morning prior to the Town Council meeting. You can watch that video HERE.

Egret street resident Jim Dunlap (pictured) would like the Town Council to appoint him to the Local Planning Agency. A seat opened up when Patrick Vanasse stepped down after serving for 5 years.

Yenier Marrero is the new General Manager of Margaritaville on Fort Myers Beach. Marrero is being promoted from his position of Director of Guest Experience at the resort. He replaces David Cesario who took a job at The Naples Grande last month after being hired from Orlando to open the resort.

Customers who order the new Send It South cocktail at Doc Ford’s restaurants and the Dixie Fish Company will be helping Captains For Clean Water. The restaurants are donating $1 from every drink to the nonprofit organization.

Calusa Waterkeeper has announced the start of the Eyes on Seagrass pilot program in Lee County, a program developed and managed by Florida Sea Grant in partnership with the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Scientists.

Three industrial sugarcane corporations filed a lawsuit in 2021 against the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers over the design and intended use of the Everglades Agricultural Area Reservoir. Captains for Clean Water has launched a campaign to get Big Sugar to drop that lawsuit.

Several members of the Southwest Florida delegation say you are not and they want to change how Lee County Government operates. Over 100 people showed up to a town hall meeting on the subject in Lehigh Wednesday, including Mayor Dan Allers, other local elected officials, and many candidates running for office.

The Town Council is expected to approve Ahtna Marine and Construction for the big dredging/pipeline renourishment project the town will begin this Summer. Ahtna was the only company out of three that met the criteria for the project and came in under budget.

After originally stating he would not run for Town Council, wanting to spend more time with his grandkids, Scott Safford has changed his mind and announced this week he's running for the Town Council seat he was appointed to back in February.
